Vitamin supplements
Vitamin supplements are the most commonly-used dietary enhancements.
Since most people don’t get their recommended nutrients, they
must take vitamin supplements to compensate for the lack in their diet.
Vitamins are nutrients that are found in the body that aid certain
metabolic reactions–some occur naturally, but most have must be
obtained through diet. Most vitamin supplements are fat soluble, which
means they are directly absorbed through the intestinal tract.
The most common fat soluble vitamin supplements are:
• A (prevents keratomalcia)
• C (prevents scurvy)
• D (prevents rickets)
• K (prevents bleeding diathesis)
